Indian women’s finished their campaign in 4 nation hockey tournament by beating Ireland 6-0 in their final game. The tournament which was played in round robin format saw India finishing at the 3rd place. India had drawn with Germany in their first game 3-3 while they lost to Australia in their second game. But the eves gave best possible end to their tournament by beating Ireland with a huge margin of 6 goals.
Indian captain Surinder Kaur again led the attack and scored a hat-trick. She scored the goals in 9th, 23rd and 32 minute of the game. Other scores for India were Jasjeet Handa (in 18th and 52nd minute) while Deepika Thakur scored a goal in 48th minute through a penalty corner.
The tournament was one by Australia who scored 7 points (2 win and a draw), Germany came second with 5 points (1 win and 2 draws).
The forward line has shined in the tournament with the team scoring 11 goals in the tournament. Surinder Kaur was highest goal scorer for India with 4 goals in the tournament. But penalty corner conversion is still a problem for the team because they missed many opportunities in penalty corner ( especially against Oz, they converted 1 out of 7).
Also with the 5 goals conceded is also a worry for the team. With World Cup coming up, it will be good to see if the team sorts outs it defense problem and brings joys for the country.
