All India Murugappa Gold Cup in its 86th edition is now the richest hockey tournament in India(in terms of prize money). Also a new rule has been introduced in this tournament.
Mr. Arun Murugappan, managing director of Murugappa group had promised it last year to increase the prize money for the players and he kept his promise and he increased the prize money for the winning team to Rs. 2.5 lacs from 1.5 lacs.
A new green card rule has been announced where the player getting green card will be suspended for 2 mins.
The tournament will not have top players participating in it due to foreign tour.

Pool A: Army XI, ONGC, Karnataka XI, Indian Railways and Namdhari XI.
Pool B: Indian Oil, BPCL, Southern Railway, Hockey India Juniors and Punjab National Bank.
