Defense is a big worry for Indian team as India’s best player in the year 2010 Sardara Singh is out of the tournament. Rupinder Pal Singh as come on the team as his replacement. Diwakar Ram who will be handling the duty of penalty corners will also have a great job as Sandeep Singh is also not playing the tournament. Dhanjay Mahadik is the third defender in the Indian team.
In the forward line, Shivendra Singh will take the goal scoring responsibility as Tushar Khandekar and Rajpal Singh are missing due to injuries. Roshan Minz will be making his comeback to the team after three years. SV Sunil has also returned to the team after knee injury. Shivendra Singh and Sarvanjit Singh are the two players whom India can bank on.
Midfield of the team is led by India’s most constant player over the years and captain Arjun Halappa. Along with Arjun, Gurbaj Singh (whom I call next Arjun Halappa due to similar styles of play) will take the burden of midfield. Vikram Pillay another veteran has also been included in the team to give stability to the Indian midfield. VS Vinaya forms the quartet of Indian midfield.
