No Live Telecase Of European Tour

Indian hockey fans, which do not miss any chance to see their beloved team in the stadium or on TV, were dejected when they found out that they will not be able to see India’s tour of Europe where they will play two test matches against France and three against Spain. Hockey India, the National Sports Federation of hockey in India was once again blamed for the situation despite having signed a deal with giants Star Sports to broadcast matches featuring India.

This is not the first time that Indian hockey fans had to suffer due to Hockey India’s lack of concern for Indian hockey fans. During the recent Sultan Azlan Shah Cup also, there was no live coverage of India’s matches and the fans around the world were forced to find live streams (illegal) to quench their thirst for hockey.
Indian hockey fans took to Twiiter to vent out their frustration and questioned Hockey India on the same. Here are some of the Tweets:

@TheHockeyIndia Sure…what about arranging TV coverage and/or Internet coverage ? What is Batra doing ? @HockeyJunoon @hockeyind

@hockeyind shame that we cannot see the live telecast on any channel of our national sport and expect our players to do miracle. ….

@hockeyind There will be no telecast of national hockey team but I want to know who wants to watch the India ‘A’ cricket team’s match also.

In the era of where Youtube and online streams function to provide live feed to people around the world, it is nothing short of a sin, not to provide at least live stream of the matches.

Hockey India despite signing a huge deal with Star Sports have not catered to demands of hockey fans, be it replica team jersey’s/gear or providing live telecast of the tournament. They should look at the demands from fans because without fans, there will no existence of Indian hockey or Hockey India.
